Fahrenheit Restaurant and What I Wore

We met one of our good friends, Dale, at Fahrenheit Restaurant  in Uptown Charlotte after work last week after he raved about how great the place is.  The restaurant is located on top of the Hyatt Place, which is part condominiums and part hotel. We arrived in style with Dale valeting his car and being greeted by everyone in the place, apparently Dale knows everyone!? Evan and I felt like celebrities {which is a rare occasion for us}.  After ordering a drink and several appetizers, Dale insisted that we needed to venture on to the balcony to check out the view. It was pretty amazing. I am kicking myself for not taking pictures of the outdoor seating area and view; however believe me when I say it is an impressive view from up there. It is such a great place to come for an after work cocktail and appetizer. We also liked that the clientele appears to be a little more mature; business people in their thirties and forties.

Evan and I shared the "Charlotte Nachos" and as you can see, they were huge!  Dale ordered the "Vietnamese Chicken Spring Rolls," which were also delicious.

Trending Tuesday: Variation on a Classic: Polka Dots and Tortoise Shell

Happy Tuesday to all! I am linking up with Amanda, Katie, Zelle, and Kristina for Trending Tuesday!

 Polka dots are not so much a trend for me, but rather a staple.  I have more polka dot dresses, shirts, shorts, you name it...than I can count. This post is more of a variation on a classic. Oddly enough, basically the whole ensemble is from Jcrew. I wore this for my first low country boil this weekend. It's a super casual, comfortable weekend look that still has a bit of class.

Oh Hey Friday: An odd assortment of camping, shoppping, and signs

Linking up with the lovely ladies, Karli and Amy for the first time! My latest thoughts this Friday morning...the Nordstrom Sale that is currently going on and Jcrew Factory's equally amazing sale! Here are my very random five for today.

{ONE} Camping this weekend

Evan, Bella, and I are headed to the mountains {Asheville specifically} to camp, hike, and {hopefully} relax! I found a couple of great ideas on Pinterest like the one below. I will recap our weekend camping next week. This is our first time taking Bella! 

Found this great idea from Remodelaholic that makes campfire smores much easier and fun. I love the idea of removing all of the packaging to make assembly easier and of course also love the s'more variations pictured here. We are definitely trying Reeses and Rolos in our s'mores. I will let y'all know how well this works!

{TWO} Nordstrom's Anniversary Sale

I broke down last week and got a Nordstrom credit card. I shop at Nordstrom A LOT as it is one of my favorite stores; so it makes sense for me to have the card, so I get all of the special priveleges and early access to sales, right? That was my rationalization for opening yet another retail credit card. Here are my recent sale purchases:

How cute is this!? A cowworker's husband put this together for her 29th birthday. Also put a sign similar to the one above in her yard this morning. I am remembering this company for future! They will set the sign up whenever you request and will take the sign down when you request.

I received a flyer in the mail yesterday notifying me that Patagonia is having their semi-annual sale online from July 24-29th and in store July 24th-August 3rd. Can't wait to check it out!

Thoughts for Thursday: 30th Birthday Wish List

As hard as it is for me to believe, I am turning the big 3-0 {yikes!} in approximately two and a half months. I have just started to actually feel like an adult in the past couple of years and now I have another big milestone looming in front of me! For the most part, I have accepted the fact that I am turning the 3-0. I mean, these days 30 is the new 20, right!? That's what I keep telling myself! Evan and several others have already started asking me what I want for my birthday, so I compiled a little big "wish list" of things I would love to have.

1. David Yurman 14k pearl bracelet - I have actually wanted this for years. It is classic and timeless and will go well with most of my work attire.

2. iRobot® Roomba 630 Vacuum Cleaning Robot - I just recently discovered that these exist AND that there are versions out now that  work really well! I was skeptical whether this robot vacuum could really do as good of a job as me vacumming, but after reading a number of reviews; I am convinced that it can! This will not likely be a birthday present this year, but maybe for Christmas!? One can hope!

3. Longchamp tote- I have a ton of Longchamp bags as they are my favorite bag. I am addicted. I love this color and I especially love the smaller handles. This adds a little bit of variety to my  current Longchamp bag selection.

4. Kate Spade bow jewelry- You can't go wrong with anything Kate Spade in my opinion, but I especially love anything Kate Spade with bows!

5. Jack Rogers beach shoes- Again, I generally stick to many of the same things. I have a number of pairs of Jack Rogers and also have a pair of their platform sandals, the Clare Wedge in Platinum. I love these because they have a heel, but not too much of one.

6. Kate Spade stud earrings- I have these in white and love them.  As mentioned above, can't go wrong with Kate Spade and bows!


 

 

Five on Friday: Shoe and Bath Products Edition

Sorry y'all, I think I have lost my mind this week; I totally forgot to actually post my five!

This week has been super busy and subsequently has flown by! So glad it's Friday though! My "Five" today are all products/shoes that I have been loving lately.


I am in love with these. I am only 5'2 1/2," thus as much as I love my Jack Roger flats, in the summer with sundresses, I could really use some extra height! You can find them here at Zappos.

IMPORTANT NOTE: If you are thinking about ordering these, make sure you order a half size up from what you order in the flat Jack Rogers sandals (i.e. I wear a 6 in the flats, but wore my normal size a 6.5 in these).

In regards to Zappos, I am kinda in love with them as well...the whole free shipping (even if you want to exchange or return shoes) and basically overnight shipping is pretty fabulous. Example: I ordered the shoes above in a size 6 and they were a little too small. I went that evening to the Zappos website, submitted my exchange, and the next day the size 6.5 shoes were waiting on my doorstep...It can't get any quicker than that! I was very impressed!



{TWO} Kate Spade Small Square Stud Earrings in Tortoise/Gold

They are back! They are back! I was so excited to see that these were back in stock as they were sold out around Christmas.I desperately wanted them then, but could not find them anywhere, until now.  I ADORE anything tortoise and I love the small square stud earrings by Kate Spade (in all colors), so I had to have these. {THREE} LUSH Fresh Handmade Cosmetics is coming to South Park

 

 

  

One of my good friends, Brooke, told me just yesterday that Lush is opening a store in South Park Mall (in Charlotte, NC for the non-local individuals).  Apparently the store will open sometime in May. For those who are not familiar with Lush, it is essentially a high end version of The Body Shop, but much more creative with their products, more diverse (they carry makeup), many vegan/organic products (great for someone like me who is allergic to many products), and MOST IMPORTANTLY their products are cruelty free. If anyone needs any recommendations on products, I can probably help...I have sampled (and bought) a TON of their products. You can find their website here. 

{FOUR} Fekkai Brilliant Glossing Shampoo and Conditioner

I have seen others blog about this and I am jumping on the bandwagon. I actually received a sample of this shampoo and conditioner months ago in a Birchbox and loved it so much that I finally decided to get it. As I have mentioned previously, I have very sensitive skin and am allergic to a lot of products (especially shampoos and conditioners). These products (so far) do not cause any sort of allergic reaction for me and they make my hair shiny and soft. You can buy the shampoo here and can buy the conditioner here. I have also tried the Frederic Fakkai Au Naturel Dry Shampoo. I liked it and thankfully do not seem to be allergic to it, but I am not sure I would readily recommend it to anyone, given the bit of flakes that it left in my hair (even after a good bit of brushing as instructed).

Anyone else tried any of their products? Thoughts?

{FIVE} Factory Demi-Wedge Sandals from Jcrew

 

 

 

I LOVE these sandals. Not only are they stylish and I can wear then to work in the summer, but they are probably the most comfortable sandals I own.  Jcrew makes them in black (pictured above) and nude. The nude color was back-ordered  and I was able to snag a pair, but unfortunately they appear to be completely sold out now. The Black are still available in several sizes.
