Happy Monday! It feels so good to be back!
For my 30th birthday, we planned a nice three night getaway that included spending one night in Hilton Head and two nights in Charleston. Although I was still getting over a yucky lingering stomach bug during my birthday celebrations {which unfortunately did put a damper on a lot of our nightly dinner reservations}, we managed to still have a great time.

On Saturday {my 30th birthday} we drove down to Hilton Head and had lunch at this great little place called A Lowcountry Backyard Restaurant. I should have taken a picture of it, but it was a really neat concept...if you sit outside you sit under this insanely large umbrella that essentially covers the entire backyard.
After lunch on Saturday, Evan surprised me by picking up a cookie cake at Publix and then informed me that he had made dinner reservations at this nice Italian Restaurant for that evening. Before dinner, we did a little bit of shopping on the island and explored Sea Pines Resort, which was really pretty. Unfortunately, due to my stomach bug, I still was not feeling well at all so we ended up canceling the fancy dinner reservation and opted to grab some pizza to-go. We ended the day by watching tv and going to bed early {due to me not feeling well}.
A couple of the pictures we snagged at Sea Pines Resort.
On Sunday, we drove to Charleston {technically Mount P first} and went straight to one of our favorite places for lunch, Red's Ice House! This place never disappoints and is far from a tourist trap. It is definitely one of those local places that we love {Evan and I got married in Charleston and lived there for a year, so we like to think of ourselves as more than tourists and more like locals}. Red's has the best crab dip and that is exactly what I ordered. As always, the food did not disappoint.
After lunch, we ventured to one of the nearby parks and walked along the water. It was overcast, but thankfully did not rain.
After lunch and taking in the scenic views, we did some shopping along King Street and then checked into our lovely inn. We chose to stay at the Ansborough Inn this time and it was really pretty with all of the exposed wood beams. The complimentary breakfast and wine daily wine and cheese hour were pretty sweet too!

We shopped, dined and explored Charleston the rest of Sunday, Monday and left in the morning on Tuesday. Unfortunately, all of our dinner reservations that I made had to be canceled to me still feeling under the weather {and not wanting to sit for a long period of time for dinner when I do not feel well}. Accordingly, we ended up eating at a lot of the local establishments that we love, but that are a little less fancy this time. I highly recommend Boulevard Diner if you are ever in the Charleston area. There are several locations in Charleston, however, we always eat at the one in Mount Pleasant. Their food is delicious,is in an unpretentious atmosphere, and they have great service!I always order the grilled salmon or the seared scallop special. They are both delicious!
Oh and last but definitely not least, Evan surprised me with a David Yurman Bangle that I have been wanting. I was pretty excited about that!
