Random Happenings from the Weekend

Happy Monday! A couple random happenings from this past weekend....

So thankful that it is FINALLY starting to feel like Spring!  Additionally, today is the official opening day of baseball season (per my husband).  Baseball is my husband's favorite sport, so he is pretty thrilled that the Spring/Summer 2014 season is upon us!

In celebration of the first day of the baseball season, Evan decided to celebrate with festive socks.

On another note, we had dinner Saturday night at a friends' house. Our friends made the best pot of chili, cornbread and for dessert I Evan made this:
Chocolate Chip Cookie Cheescake
You can find the recipe here. I found this recipe on pinterest and we had to give it a try.  I highly recommend it as it is super easy (only 6 ingredients)  and it is delicious! We are definitely going to have to make this again!!

A pastime of Bella and her Daddy..hide and seek.  I hate to tell them, but their legs (and tail) kind of give away their location!

Oh Bella!! This is what Bella apparently likes to do on Sunday afternoons when Daddy is up in the attic (per Mommy's instructions of course). Bella has climbed the ladder now several times and each time manages to get closer to the top. This is evidence of how much Bella hates to be away from Evan and I...she is willing to climb a ladder to get to us! Crazy girl! Give her a few more weeks and I have a feeling she will be able to get to the top. I have a video coming of Bella climbing to the attic, which I should be able to upload very soon. Stay tuned!

Five on Friday

Five on Friday

Happy Friday y'all! I am so ready for the weekend... it has been a long week. Without further ado, here are some of the things I have been loving recently.

Kiki cork ballet flats
ONE- Kiki Cork Ballet Flats from J.Crew
You can find them here.  I am in love. They are a little pricey, but they are great for Spring, I can wear them to work, and they are extremely comfortable. Kate Spade had a pair of cork flats previously, but by the time I discovered them, they were sold out. Beware, these run a bit small. I generally wear a 6 in ballet flats and I wear a 6.5 in these.

TWO- Plum Pretty Sugar Kimono Style Robe in Fields to Waterfall
I discovered this website while looking for a cuter robe to wear around the house. I find that (in the mornings especially) before I get dressed, I wear a robe quite a bit and am tired of always looking so frumpy. Fortunately, these robes are so fashionable that I don't feel as frumpy in the mornings. They have a great assortment of wedding party and bridal robes/pajamas, etc. as well. You can find their website here.

THREE- My little snugglebunny, Bella (who else)?
I told y'all that you would get very tired seeing and hearing about my little one. This is what we did
this past weekend. Evan has finally allowed her on the first floor couch. Until recently, this was a no-no. I am milking it for all it's worth! She is a mini goldendoodle for anyone who is wondering. I highly recommend the breed; overall they are so well-behaved!

FOUR- Divergent
For anyone that is not familiar with the Divergent series, I definitely recommend it. The movie just
came out this past week. I was hooked when I read the books: Divergent, Insurgent, and Allegiant by Veronica Roth. I am VERY much looking forward to seeing the first movie hopefully this weekend. If you are interested in reading the books, you can get the whole Kindle edition here at Amazon.

FIVE- Bentley's on 27
I went here for lunch this Thursday and the view of Uptown Charlotte was amazing. I had the salmon and it was superb! I highly recommend if you work in the uptown area to check this place out for lunch if you have at least an hour to spare; you will not be dissapointed. You can find the lunch menu here.

Happy Friday Y'all!

Layering Bracelets

Let's discuss the layered bracelet look...

I love this look and rarely have just one bracelet on my hand these days. I actually prefer the layered bracelet look as opposed to wearing one of my watches at the moment. Here are some of the layered looks that I have worn and/or am wanting to wear this spring and summer. With the warm weather (hopefully) coming to Charlotte soon, this look is likely to be out with even more force in the coming weeks!!

This one is one of my favorite looks because it goes with most of my work attire. Both of the chain bracelets are from Jcrew factory. You can find them here. The "Good as Gold" charm bracelet is from Kate Spade (courtesy of my friend Brooke). You can find it here.

Another look that I am really loving and recently purchased is also from Jcrew factory. You can find it here.

This one I pair with anything blue that I wear. This blue bracelet is actually on clearance at the moment at Jcrew Factory. You can find it here.

Absolutely adore this Kate Spade 'Skinny Mini Rope Bangle.' It is currently on sale and mine is on my way. You can find it here.

Here is another look that I really love. I do not own these (yet), but I am hoping these will be purchased in the near future. The bow and purple bangles are from Kate Spade. You can find them here and here.  I am not positive, but I believe the pale pink bracelet is from Jcrew. I could not find the exact one, but you can find a somewhat similar one at Jcrew Factory here.

Another look I am really loving. The blue swirl bracelet is Lilly Pulitzer and can be found here.
The gold middle one is Jcrew, found here. The bracelet on the far left is Kiel James Patrick, found here.

This middle blue one I found in a  Lilly Signature Store in Richmond, Virginia.

The black bow was from a good friend of mine...I am not sure where she found it.

More bracelets from Jcrew. These are older, so they may be available on Ebay, but unfortunately not on the Jcrew website anymore.

Again, more jcrew.

Can you tell that I am really loving this look? I think I need to slow down on the number of bracelets I purchase! My husband would definitely support me toning it down a bit!

Bella

I am sure my obsession with my dog will get old very quickly for those following, but as will become abundantly obvious, I absolutely love my fur baby baby girl. To me, since we do not have children yet, Bella is the closest thing I have to a little girl. So although I know that Bella is only our dog, to us, she is our family and accordingly, we treat her as such. I am somewhat ridiculously obsessed with her. Here are a few pictures to recap the first 8.5 months we have had with our sweet little Bella.

Another Christmas picture pose!

We used this one for our 2013 Christmas cards.

Lots of Christmas toys!

Valentines Day toys are the best!
All dolled up for V-Day!

In sum, can you tell we love our dog? I don't know what we will do when she is no longer with us! We are so thankful to be able to enjoy her (hopefully) for many years to come!

Things I am loving lately...

Happy Friday! This is my FIRST post ever. Please be patient with me as I get the hang of this thing called blogging, I am about as amateur as you get!

I thought I would start with a list of some things I have been loving lately:

-ONE-

STITCH FIX.
I have gotten two fixes thus far and I am hooked. Essentially, you create a fashion profile for yourself on their website and a personal stylist uses this information to custom select five items in your size to be shipped to you. The service costs $20 for every fix and the $20 goes towards any clothing purchases that you make. Any items that you do not like, you can send back in their enclosed pre-paid envelope.

-TWO-

California Square Red Paso Red Wine Blend

This red blend is beyond delicious. It is listed as  a medium bodied wine, but I swear that this has one of the smoothest finishes I have probably ever tasted. It is a bit of a splurge at $14.99 a bottle, but it is worth it!

-THREE-

The Wine Store

Several friends of ours told us about this great store where you can try samples of all wines prior to purchasing them. I think this is wonderful, considering I have bought bottles in the past that after tasting decide I am not in love with.

-FOUR-

Origins Concealer
Quick, Hide™! Long-Wearing Concealer

Another  amazing find from a dear friend of mine. I have extremely sensitive skin and am allergic to practically all makeup. This is one of the few products that after using for several years, I am still not allergic to it. I love this one because I can use it in conjunction with my foundation as well.

ENJOY!
