Christmas 2014 in Review

Evan and I decided right after Christmas 2013 that Christmas 2014 would be celebrated in our own home with just the three of us {Evan, myself and Bella}. Other than the Christmas when we had just gotten back from our honeymoon, every year we always travel to Virginia for Christmas to visit both families. My parents live in Warrenton, Virginia and a good bit of Evan's family lives in the Richmond area. This year we thought it would be nice that given this is the last year before baby, we just enjoy the peace and quiet that we currently have with just the three of us. Next Christmas we will have a little one  {probably not a bit relaxing} and we know that we will want to travel to everyone so that they can meet our new addition. Although I know next Christmas will be a bit a lot more chaotic; I can't wait!!

Here are a few pictures from this Christmas just the three of us. We spent our days off doing some cooking, eating out, shopping and a whole lot of relaxing. It was wonderful.

I made Christmas cookies for a select few friends in the area. I found these cute containers at Target last minute.

A glimpse of our new stockings from Pottery Barn! I LOVE that Madison has her own stocking for next year.

Pregnancy Week 19

How Far Along: 19 weeks

Size of Baby:
Baby is the size of an heirloom tomato.

Gender:
A sweet baby girl! Madison Ashley!

Maternity Clothes: Lots of leggings and still a lot of my regular larger shirts.  I still can't wear a lot of maternity dresses as they are still too big. I am trying to find some good workout clothing since I am getting back in the gym. Any suggestions?

Workouts: Three. Elliptical and bike workouts. Hoping to run more next week!

Weight Gain:
Not sure, I am dreading getting on the scale after Christmas.

Sleep: Pretty good. I have been going to bed a little later than previously...usually by 10:30 pm.

Cravings/Aversions: Pizza, buffalo wraps, Christmas cookies and Nerds...Christmas was not good for healthy eating!

Movement: Yes!Feeling baby girl every day all day, although a lot more movement at night. I actually get a little nervous when I do not feel her moving within a couple hour period.

Nursery:
More progress: several shelves have been put up, the curtains are complete, and we also ordered Madison's monogram for over her crib.  We also bought some additional clothing items during after Christmas sales.

Symptoms:
Growing belly...

What I Miss: Caesar salads, soft cheeses and red wine. Not much else.
Mood: So so happy and content knowing we are having a little girl!

Best Moment This Week:
Continuing to feel Madison kick and move around! I love feeling her move; it makes me reassured that all is well.

Looking Forward To:
Completing the nursery!

Pregnancy Week 18

How Far Along: 18 weeks

Size of Baby:
Baby is the size of a sweet potato.

Gender:
A sweet baby girl! Madison Ashley!

Maternity Clothes: Same as last week. Lots of leggings, nonmaternity dresses from Forever 21. I got several great pieces from H&M Maternity. I highly recommend their maternity jeggings! I still can't wear straight maternity items (other than pants) because they are just too big still.

Workouts: Two. Ugh. I still struggle to find the time/motivation. Evan and I did join a gym that has several indoor swimming pools and an outdoor pool for the summer in addition to the fitness center and exercise classes. I am hoping to make it to the gym a good bit since I can walk there.

Weight Gain:
Up another pound from the past two weeks.

Sleep: Pretty good. I have been going to bed a little later than previously...usually by 10:30 pm.

Cravings/Aversions: Pizza, vegetarian subs, sweet potato fries, salads...basically anything other than sweets.

Movement: Yes! This past Saturday night I felt her first kick and Evan was able to feel her kick too! Since then I have felt her move every day. It is a pretty awesome feeling!!

Nursery:
We have made a good bit of progress.  Dresser, curtains, closet shelving, lighting, crib, and rug are in place. I still have a lot of the small details to complete, but all of the major pieces are in place!

Symptoms:
Almost normal energy level. Growing belly...

What I Miss: Caesar salads, soft cheeses and red wine. Not much else.
Mood: So so happy and content knowing we are having a little girl!

Best Moment This Week:
Our 18 week anatomy scan. I was a bit nervous even though we were assured at our 15 week 3D scan that everything looked great. I was still worried and it was great to hear again that everything looked great and that it appears we are having a completely healthy little girl.

Looking Forward To:
Is it too soon to say that I am looking forward to Madison finally being here? Because I already can't wait!

2014 Christmas Pajamas

I think that Bella and I have started a new Christmas tradition. I found these matching Christmas pajamas at Target in early November and was excited to take pictures with them. They actually had men's matching pajamas as well; but Evan opted not to participate. Something about not liking the idea of these pictures going public made him opt out! So without further ado, here is my mini photo shoot with my other best friend, my sweet mini Goldendoodle, Bella. Don't mind my preggo belly in this pictures! I am really starting to pop at 18 weeks!

Looking Forward To:
Feeling the little one move and especially for Evan to be able to feel her kick.

Our Gender Reveal

On Thanksgiving day we gathered with family and found out the gender of our first child. Carrie, my soon to be sister-in-law did a great job capturing all of the special moments on film and my father in law took a video of the whole reveal. We went for our gender reveal scan at Lake Norman 3D Imaging on the Tuesday before Thanksgiving. Roxanne, the ultrasound tech, was amazing and Evan and I plan to back again towards the end of our pregnancy! I was terrified that the baby would not cooperate and that we would not be able to find out in time for Thanksgiving, but was relieved when Roxanne assured me that she had no trouble determining our baby's gender. Without further ado here are a ton of pictures of our gender reveal...

The cake was from Cloud 9 Confections in Uptown Charlotte. They did an amazing job!

A shot before the big reveal...

I kept repeating before cutting the cake: "I am so scared!" I was shaking and I was so nervous! We really would be happy with either gender, however I did really had my hopes set on one particular one if I am being honest...

WE ARE HAVING A GIRL!!!

Our sweet little Madison Ashley! We could not be more thrilled! I was really really hoping for a girl and we got our wish! I have already bought tons of bows and frilly dresses! I cannot wait!

Five on Friday

Evan's busy period at work is finally over so I am super excited to spend quality time with him this weekend. On the agenda...our baby registry!! Wish us luck! Without further ado, here are my five for this week:

{ONE} BabyList Registry (https://babyli.st)

We have decided to register through this site because you can combine items from essentially any registry/website to this one location. I really like this option because I always seem to find certain things at certain stores and I do not really like have to be limited to the selection that a couple particular stores have. So far we have been pretty pleased! Anyone have any specific recommendations for must have baby items? I am all ears!

{TWO}  Essie Tomboy No More Nail Polish Color

I love this color. It is essentially deep maroon color. Perfect for the holiday season!

{THREE} This little cuddlebug

I swear, ever since we found out I was pregnant, Bella has been even more attached at my hip! She not only now loves to snuggle, but likes to be right up against me on the couch or on my lap. This is all new for her. It will be interesting to see how she reacts when the baby is actually born!

{FOUR} Evan, Bella and I are taking our Christmas pictures this weekend. We are actually using a device that I purchased on amazon so that you can take your own pictures by a simple click of your cell phone. We used it to take our baby reveal pictures ourselves, it was super easy and I loved the flexibility of taking pictures when we wanted to. I highly recommend it. You can find it here on Amazon.
{FIVE} I couldn't resist and purchased this shirt from Etsy yesterday. I thought it was perfect for the holiday season.

Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend!!

Pregnancy Week 13

How Far Along: 13 weeks

Size of Baby:
Baby is the size of a pea pod or a peach (depending on what app you look at)

Gender:
We have no idea. None at all.

Maternity Clothes: A bunch of my work clothes are now almost too tight in the top region and in the middle due to the increasing size of the bump.

Workouts: Three, getting a little better, but my plan is to step this up a good bit in the next couple of weeks.

Weight Gain:
Total is 5 pounds (I swear about 4 pounds is in my boobs)! I think I am going to hate answering this each week....

Sleep: A good 8-9 hours nightly.I generally get really tired around 8 pm.

Cravings/Aversions: I LOVE Jimmy John’s vegetarian subs. Guacamole. Special K Red Berries. Pizza.

Movement: None yet, I can't wait!

Nursery:
Is still a guestroom. We are waiting until we know the gender on Thanksgiving!

Symptoms:
The fatigue is much better, however I still do not have as much energy as I did pre-pregnancy.I am hoping that upping the workouts will help with the energy level.

What I Miss: Caesar salads and soft cheeses. Not much else.
Mood: Happy. Anxious to find out our baby's gender next Thursday!!

Best Moment This Week:
Just knowing that Thanksgiving is almost here!

Looking Forward To:
Finding out the gender of our little one! I can't think about much else! I can't wait to get monogram after monogram of little outfits!

Five on Friday

Happy Friday! I am starting to get my energy back, which I am so thankful for! For those that don't know, I am 13 weeks pregnant {that still sounds so weird to say} and I have been super tired the entire time until very recently.

You can find our pregnancy announcement post here.

But now that I am feeling better; I am up for more blogging {among other things} and am back for Five on Fridays! Without further ado, here are my random five for the week:

{ONE} Christmas movies are in full swing on the Hallmark channel!! Is it too soon!? I am already indulging on these like crazy. My poor DVR is taking it!

{TWO} Our Gender Reveal on Thanksgiving Day

Less than two weeks until we find out {on Thanksgiving Day} whether we are having a little boy or girl! More to come on our family gender reveal party!! Below are the gender reveal invitations that we made ourselves with Word and our color printer; super easy and cheap. We are only having a few close family members attending, so we figured why not do it ourselves?

{THREE}    Oh Bella...Pet Pajamas from Target

How cute is Bella in her pajama set I found at Target this past Tuesday? You can find them here. They were only $7.99 and they have several styles. Bella is a medium and weighs 42 pounds if this is helpful to gauge sizing. Dare I mention that Evan and I also have matching plaid pajamas? Photo coming soon {while I can still wear the pajama bottoms..ha}!

{FOUR} I know I am only 13 weeks and that some of this is bloating {right?} But for me, I feel like I have “popped” just a bit {okay maybe a wee little bit}. Thoughts? I kind of love it! Is it too soon to accentuate the belly with a belt? Otherwise, I feel like I look frumpy. It's hard to really make out the bump in these pictures. Any thoughts?

{FIVE}   This is the last weekend that Evan has to work and next weekend I should have him all to myself again! I cannot wait. Among other things, I have a list of projects for Evan to complete including: baby closet organization, attic organization….the list goes on and on!!! Sorry sweetie!

and
Lauren Elizabeth for High Five Friday.

Hope everyone has a great weekend!!

Pregnancy Weeks 7-12

Although we did not make our big announcement until this past Thursday, I have been keeping track of my weekly thoughts, food aversions and whatnot since week 7 of pregnancy. I thought I would share for those who are interested. I always love to read about others pregnancy experiences!

How far along: 7 weeks

Size of Baby: Baby D is the size of a sweet pea (Teeny Tiny).

Gender: I have no idea, however, Evan is convinced we are having a boy!  We will definitely find out as soon as we can {i.e. 15 weeks} I cannot wait! We will be happy either way!

Workouts: Hmmm….nope. I do not have the energy nor the stomach for any sort of physical activity at this point.

Weight Gain: Nothing yet; I have probably lost several pounds!

Sleep: Pretty good; sleeping A LOT!

Maternity Clothes: Not yet, {hopefully} way too soon for those.  I have started thinking about what I will wear. I have purchased several belly bands and shape wear in preparation…more to come on this once I have a bump.

Movement: Not yet.

Food cravings/aversions:  Saying no to all sweets, coffee, and  most kinds of chicken.  As to everything else, it just depends on my mood…I generally have a particular item in mind for every meal and I prefer to stick to it because in my mind the food  item won’t make me nauseous. Saying no to all desserts/sweets really stinks right now as we just celebrated by birthday and have lots around the house!! As far as cravings…a couple things that have been very odd including: Lunchables pizza (haven’t had these since middle school) and Pad Thai!? Weird!

Symptoms: Yes… where to begin. I am nauseous all day and night and the only thing that helps is if my stomach is fairly full. I am hoping the nausea will pass soon because it is pretty miserable. I just try to think that nausea is a good sign that everything is going well inside there! Also, I have been super tired and nap frequently {and for the record I am not a napper}.

What I miss: My energy and ability to eat what I want when I want. Eating currently revolves solely around what my mind thinks my stomach can handle.

Labor Signs: Way too soon!

Mood: Happy other than the nausea which makes me uncomfortable.  I haven't really had any crazy mood swings or anything yet. Fingers crossed I don't turn into a crazy person for a little while longer!!

Nursery: We will start on nursery progress immediately after Thanksgiving. We are hosting Thanksgiving this year so we don't want to flip our guest room quite yet!

Best moment(s) this week: Me complaining about not being able to drink coffee and Evan saying that’s okay, {insert baby boy name we already have ready} is just like his father; he is saying no to coffee. It starts already…

What I'm looking forward to? Our 8 week appointment. Hoping we are having a sweet, healthy baby!

How Far Along? 8 weeks

Size of Baby:
Baby is the size of a kidney bean.

Gender: Still have no idea! Evan had a dream the other night that we had two children, a boy and a girl; but the girl was older in the dream. Maybe a sign?

Maternity Clothes: Too soon! {Thank goodness}!

Workouts: Still none, I am too tired and feel pretty yucky all day every day.

Weight Gain:
Haven't stepped on the scale, but I'm assuming none. I continue to feel quite bloated by the end of each day though.

Sleep: A good 7-8 hours nightly. Lots of naps when I can; especially on the weekends.

Movement: Nada. Can’t wait though!

Food aversions/cravings?  Still saying no to anything pumpkin, chicken and coffee. As far as cravings…nothing too crazy, however, oddly enough I have certain things that I feel like eating for every meal.

Nursery:
Is still a guestroom. We are waiting until we know the gender on Thanksgiving!

Symptoms:  Same as last week: nausea, extreme tiredness…food aversions, cravings, increased hunger.  I really need to watch the quantity of food that I eat at each meal because I think I may be overdoing it a bit due to the increased hunger/nausea!

What I Miss: Anything and everything pumpkin…for some reason I have the strangest aversion to everything pumpkin spice (which I usually love)!

Labor Signs: Way too soon!

Mood: Happy!

Best Moment This Week:
Our “8 week” doctor’s appointment and getting to see our little one and hear his/her heartbeat! It was magical! I continue to pray that the little one continues to grow and flourish!

Looking Forward To: Getting my energy back and some normalcy when it comes to eating!

How Far Along: 9 weeks

Size of Baby:
Green Olive

Gender:
Evan suspects a boy, but we have no idea!

Maternity Clothes:
Too soon! {Thank goodness}!

Workouts: Ugh...still have no energy!

Weight Gain: Haven't stepped on scale, but I'm assuming none. I have felt quite bloated by the end of each day though.

Sleep: A good 7-8 hours nightly. Lots of naps when I can; especially on the weekends.

Food aversions/cravings: Ugh, yes…nothing too crazy, however, oddly enough I have certain things that I feel like eating for every meal.

Movement:
Nada. Can’t wait though!

Nursery:
Is still a guestroom. We are waiting until we know the gender on Thanksgiving!

Symptoms:
The "girls" are very sore. Nausea, extreme tiredness…food aversions, cravings, increased hunger.  I really need to watch the quantity of food that I eat at each meal because I think I may be overdoing it a bit due to the increased hunger/nausea!

What I Miss:
Nothing at all. I have no desire for alcohol at this point. This may be due to the mind nausea; not sure. Anything and everything pumpkin…for some reason I have a stranger aversion to everything pumpkin spice (which I usually love)!

Labor Signs: Too soon.

How Far Along: 10 weeks

Size of Baby:
Baby is the size of a kumquat

Gender:
We have no idea. I suspect a girl.

Maternity Clothes:
Too soon! {Thank goodness}!

Workouts: Ugh...still have no energy!

Weight Gain: Umm…still haven’t stepped on the scale but with the hunger I have been feeling; I have probably gained a pound or so.

Sleep: A good 7-8 hours nightly. Lots of naps when I can; especially on the weekends. Just started getting up in the middle of the night to tinkle.

Food aversions/cravings: Not as many this week {thankfully}.

Movement:
Nada. Can’t wait though!

Nursery:
Is still a guestroom. We are waiting until we know the gender on Thanksgiving!

Symptoms:
The nausea has gotten MUCH better. Additionally, the crazy food aversions have lessened, which I am very thankful for. I still feel slightly nauseas and uncomfortable if I do not eat every two to three hours. Going longer than two hours or so without eating and I become ravenous. I am still crazy tired all the time and I have no motivation to exercise AT ALL. I do not even have the energy to drag myself to the grocery store.

Mood: Happy!

Best Moment This Week:
Knowing that we are in the double digits and so far so good. We are just praying for a healthy little one!

Looking Forward To: Still waiting to get my energy back!

How Far Along: 11 weeks

Size of Baby:
Baby is the size of a fig or lime (depending on your source)

Gender:
We have no idea. I suspect a girl.

Maternity Clothes: Too soon! {Thank goodness}!

Workouts: Still none. So ready to get back at it!

Weight Gain: Umm…stepped on the scale because I had my health screening at work this week. I have gained two pounds from my pre-pregnancy weight. I am not really surprised considering my increased hunger and my lack of activity for the past five weeks or so. I am hoping to feel a little less bulky once my energy comes back and I am able to get back into my exercise routine!

Sleep: Still tons!! A good 7-8 hours or more nightly. I took a 3 hour nap on Sunday! I am not generally a napper!

Food aversions/craving: Not too bad this week overall.  Oddly, I had a craving for MacDonald’s for dinner the other night; which is really odd. I never want nor go to MacDonald’s!  It really hit the spot though! Still saying no to anything and everything pumpkin.

Movement: Nada. Can’t wait though!

Nursery:
Is still a guestroom. We are waiting until we know the gender on Thanksgiving!

Symptoms:
The nausea is almost non-existent at this point. Unfortunately, the fatigue is still in full force and so are the crazy hunger I get if I do not eat ever couple of hours.

What I Miss:
Caesar salads and soft cheeses!  Still absolutely no desire for alcohol. I blame the hormones.

Labor signs: Nope.

Mood: Content!

Best Moment This Week:
Knowing that we are in the double digits and so far so good. We are just praying for a healthy little one!

Looking Forward To:
Still waiting to get my energy back! Also, we have our 12 week appointment next Thursday; which happens to also be our fourth wedding anniversary. We figured what a great way to celebrate than to have our appointment {and hopefully} get good news that our little one is healthy and doing well. It has been a month since our last appointment, so I am super anxious to hear that little heart beat! After our appointment, we are off to celebrate with dinner out.

How Far Along: 12 weeks!! Finally!!

Size of Baby:
Baby is the size of a plum.

Gender:
We have no idea. None at all.

Maternity Clothes: Well...work clothes are now almost too tight in the top region. I have gone up an entire cup size (like I needed that)! Getting a little snug around the tummy region as well due to the bump that has definitely made an appearance this week.

Workouts: 2! This is a HUGE improvement from the past 11 weeks. Hopefully this will pick up from here on out!

Weight Gain:
We will find out at our 12 week appointment tomorrow. I do not anticipate it to be that good (I would estimate 2-3 pounds)…I have been eating it seems like A LOT (due to my insatiable hunger)!  Ugh!

Sleep: A good 9-10 hours nightly. Took another 3 hour nap on Saturday which is unlike me pre-pregnancy.

Cravings/Aversions: Not too bad this week overall.  Jimmy John’s vegetarian subs. Guacamole. Special K Red Berries. Pizza.

Movement: None.

Nursery:
Is still a guestroom. We are waiting until we know the gender on Thanksgiving!

Symptoms:
The fatigue may be getting a little bit better, but not much yet. I went ahead and purchased several pregnancy exercise DVDs though and plan to start this weekend regardless of my energy level. I also plan to resume my running routine this weekend. Hope the exercise will help boost the energy levels.

What I Miss: Caesar salads and soft cheeses!  Still absolutely no desire for alcohol. I blame the hormones.

Mood: So happy that our little one is doing so well!

Best Moment This Week:
Knowing we are almost into the second trimester! I can’t believe it!

Looking Forward To:
Still waiting to get my energy back! Also, we have our 12 week appointment tomorrow; which happens to also be our fourth wedding anniversary. We figured what a great way to celebrate than to have our appointment {and hopefully} get good news that our little one is healthy and doing well. It has been a month since our last appointment, so I am super anxious to hear that little heart beat! After our appointment, we are off to celebrate with dinner out.
